We have a new number one in week #37! The OEL manga Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber dethroned Finder. Gratz! I’m sure Tokyopop will be very happy. Tokyopop will also be very happy that Freche Mädchen – freche Manga volume #1 managed to stay in the top 20 for 16 consecutive weeks and thereby is the manga with the longest run in Top 20 so far. That’s not bad at all for an original German production. This is just Tokyopop’s own chart, but those two, plus the Warcraft and Starcraft manga, still indicate a trend towards a broader acceptance of Global Manga.

Week 39 is unsurprisingly dominated by Tokyopop’s new October releases. The new manga take up 14 out of 20 places; only Finder and Vampire Kisses are still holding a position in the Top 10. The list presents a nice mix between all demographics and has the highest shounen count since I’ve been posting these charts. It’ll be interesting to see which one of these will last the next few weeks until a new month starts.
